DEBATE ON PRIVATIZATION IN SPORT The privatization of sports clubs in Serbia is necessary, because it is unacceptable that taxpayers cover their huge losses, said Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovičić at the debate "Privatization in Sport" which was held in the City Hall of Nis. The panel included representatives of numerous clubs and organizations. This meeting was attended by the President of municipality of Palilula Boban Džunić with his associates. Palilula is currently one of the most active municipalities in the region through a number of projects and activities contributed significantly to the promotion of sports and recreation in their territory. “The Ministry of Youth and Sports launched the initial dialogue about the process of privatization in the sport, and the first hearing was held in Nis, said Minister Vanja Udovičić and stressed that these reforms envisaged six-year plan of the Ministry. Niš was the first city in Serbia which he took such stands whose goal is to hear the opinion of a large number of representatives of major sporting institutions on this topic. Privatization in the sport should be conducted to help the reforms that involve the introduction of business in the area of legal channels, said Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovičić. The aim of the reform of the sport is to responsibly spend taxpayers' money and to be more control on how to invest in the sport at the local level. Discussions on ownership transformation in sport will be organized in all major cities. "We do not want to wait for us to do some coercion, but we want to do this timely work that awaits us in the process of negotiations with the EU and harmonizing our legislation with EU," said Udovičić. He said that the main problems of countries in Europe are misbehavior at sports events, doping and match-fixing, as well as the determination of our country to fight against such phenomena.
